Limbus Company is a role-playing game developed by Project Moon and set in the same universe as Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina. The game follows a group known as the Sinners, twelve individuals traveling across a massive dystopian city in search of mysterious objects called Golden Boughs. The player takes the role of a manager responsible for leading the team, organizing battles, and guiding the expedition through dangerous districts. The story combines character-focused narratives, world-building, and ongoing missions that gradually reveal more about the setting and the members of the cast.
A Journey Across the City
The main storyline revolves around the search for Golden Boughs hidden throughout different parts of the City. Each Sinner has a personal background, and many chapters focus on their individual histories and motivations. The narrative is delivered through fully voiced story scenes, dialogue, and mission events. As the team travels from one location to another, they encounter rival organizations, dangerous creatures, and various threats connected to the world's complex social structure. The story expands over multiple chapters known as Cantos, with each one exploring a different part of the setting and a different character.
Progression is organized through story chapters, combat encounters, and dungeon-like stages. Players advance by completing missions, unlocking new areas, and facing increasingly difficult enemies. Every chapter introduces new challenges, story events, and opponents. Special battles against powerful enemies known as Abnormalities often serve as major obstacles that require careful preparation and strategy.
