The Closing Shift

Game description:

The Closing Shift is a first-person psychological horror game developed by Chilla’s Art. The game places the player in the role of a young barista working late-night shifts at a coffee shop called Chilla’s Coffee. At first, the gameplay focuses on normal daily routines such as preparing drinks, cleaning the store, and serving customers. As the nights continue, strange events begin happening around the café and the protagonist starts suspecting that someone is following her.

Story and Main Setting

The story takes place over several working nights and follows the protagonist’s growing fear after hearing reports about stalking incidents in the area. While performing regular café duties, the player notices suspicious customers, strange phone calls, and unsettling encounters near the apartment complex and parking lot. The game slowly reveals that the protagonist may have become the target of a dangerous stalker.

Most of the story progression happens through environmental events and interactions rather than long cutscenes. The player travels between the apartment, the street, and the coffee shop while dealing with increasingly disturbing situations. Some scenes are intentionally ambiguous and create uncertainty about whether certain events are real or connected to stress and fear.

Gameplay and Coffee Shop Mechanics

Gameplay combines exploration, dialogue, and interactive job simulation mechanics. Players prepare drinks by following recipes and using café equipment such as coffee machines, blenders, steamers, and ingredient stations. Orders must be completed correctly before continuing the shift.

The game includes features such as:

  • Interactive coffee preparation systems

  • First-person horror exploration

  • Multiple endings

  • VHS visual filter effects

  • Story-driven progression across several nights

Some sections also include chase sequences and survival moments where the player must react quickly to avoid danger.

Progression and Atmosphere

The Closing Shift is divided into separate nights instead of traditional levels. Each shift introduces new customers, additional tasks, and stronger psychological tension. The café initially feels routine and safe, but the atmosphere changes gradually through sound design, lighting, and unusual encounters.
