Game description:
UMIGARI is a fishing-themed horror game where the player works as a lone fisherman traveling through coastal waters. The story unfolds on the open sea near Japan, where the protagonist operates a small boat and earns money by catching fish. At first the activity appears simple and routine. The player leaves the harbor, searches for fish in the water, and returns to sell the catch. As the game continues, however, the environment begins to change and the ocean reveals unusual details that disrupt the normal rhythm of fishing.
Life On A Small Fishing Boat
Most of the gameplay in UMIGARI takes place on a small motorboat used for fishing trips. The player navigates through foggy waters and scans the sea for movement beneath the surface. Once a fish appears, the player uses a harpoon to attempt a precise strike. Successful catches can be stored and transported back to the harbor.
Selling fish becomes the primary source of income. The money earned allows the fisherman to refuel the boat and prepare for another trip. Because fuel is limited, the player must plan each journey carefully and avoid getting stranded too far from the coast.
Fishing And Exploration Mechanics
The game combines fishing actions with exploration and resource management. Players travel between different areas of the ocean while gradually improving their ability to operate the boat.
Typical gameplay activities include:
· navigating the fishing boat through open water
· locating fish beneath the surface
· using a harpoon to catch targets
· selling fish at the harbor to earn money
· purchasing fuel and upgrading equipment
These actions create a cycle where each fishing trip supports further exploration.
Deeper Waters And Unusual Discoveries
As the fisherman begins traveling farther away from the harbor, the ocean environment becomes less familiar. Some fish appear larger or behave differently than those found near the coast. Visibility also becomes more limited as fog and darkness affect navigation.
New islands and distant areas of the sea appear during exploration. These locations may contain resources or hidden elements that expand the story. At the same time, the deeper waters introduce encounters that suggest the ocean contains more than ordinary marine life.
