Meow

Game description:

Meow is a horror game designed in a retro PSX style, where players take on the role of a person living alone with their cat. The main task is simple — feed and care for the cat — but the atmosphere and environment quickly make this routine feel uneasy. The game starts by presenting ordinary tasks like preparing food and keeping the cat happy, but the empty house and eerie silence create a sense that something is not quite right. As players move through the house, small unsettling details begin to appear, turning basic pet care into something more disturbing.

Atmosphere and Visual Style

The visuals in Meow use low-resolution graphics, flat textures, and dim lighting to create an intentionally outdated appearance, adding to the unsettling atmosphere. Rooms feel empty and lifeless, with only the cat providing any sense of companionship. The lighting casts harsh shadows, and the grainy screen effect mimics the look of VHS recordings, further enhancing the sense of discomfort. Every object, from the furniture to the appliances, has a rough and unfinished look that contributes to the eerie tone.

Tension and Hidden Threats

Although feeding the cat seems like the main focus, the game gradually introduces unexplained events and strange noises, making players question what is really happening in the house. As players complete ordinary tasks, the environment subtly changes, creating a sense of dread without direct threats. This slow buildup of fear, combined with the unsettling atmosphere and isolation, makes Meow more than just a pet simulator — it becomes a quiet psychological horror experience where something unseen always feels close by.
