Cursed Companions is a cooperative horror game that uses voice input as a core gameplay mechanic. Every spoken word has the potential to affect the game world in real time. Players must speak to interact with the environment, use abilities, and communicate with teammates. But the same voice commands that help can also harm. Saying the wrong phrase might trigger a trap, provoke a monster, or curse your allies. The game listens at all times, so even casual conversation can lead to unintended consequences.

Navigate Ever-Changing Dungeons

Each session takes place in a procedurally generated dungeon, offering new layouts and dangers every time. The deeper players go, the more complex and hostile the environment becomes. Players must solve puzzles, avoid traps, and engage with audio-sensitive creatures. Some enemies hunt based on sound, requiring players to stay quiet or distract them with shouted commands. Others can only be repelled through specific phrases. Success depends on mastering when to speak, what to say, and when to stay silent.

Collect Cursed Treasures and Gear

Scattered throughout the dungeon are valuable treasures, many of which are cursed with forbidden words. If players speak these words aloud, they may suffer penalties or trigger events. These treasures must be returned to the Dark Queen to progress, but handling them requires caution. In addition to cursed items, players can find regular loot that can be sold for gold. This gold is used to purchase equipment, such as magical tools, potions, and defensive gear. Players can also use earnings to upgrade their base, transforming it into a personal hub.

They can sabotage the group by speaking harmful phrases or manipulating others into doing so. When suspicion rises, players can call an emergency meeting and vote to remove a potential traitor. However, voting out the wrong player weakens the team. Because speech is so tightly connected to gameplay, deception becomes a powerful tool. Silence can be suspicious. Talking too much can be fatal.
